On Friday I attended the casting call for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Cape Town 2017.
It was held at the V&A Waterfront with Table Mountain as the backdrop. This allowed onlookers an opportunity to see what really goes on behind the scenes of a model casting.Having modelled at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week before, I knew the pressure that the models where under, and now there was the added pressure of not only having to walk for judges but also having the public watch your every move. The judges on the day:
- Deon Redman – who specializes in Fashion Event Production within the fashion and luxury retail sectors.
- Jan Malan -director of Umzingeli Productions, is one of Africa’s leading show producers. ‘Umzingeli’ means ‘hunter-gatherer’ in Xhosa and Zulu, as the company prides itself on finding and nurturing fashion and beauty talent that hails from Africa
- Mary Reynolds -Founder of Tramps – The Show Production Company.
Among the audience showing their support I spotted Ritza and Elrico Bellingan ,the power couple behind Luxo Blog .The multifaceted Performer, Taryn Louch was also in the crowd, along with the owner and manager of Zebra Square Communications, Jillian Grogor.
Zebra Square is the PR, Communications and Media Agency for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Cape Town 2017.This model casting was an incredible opportunity for hopefuls to have the chance to wear garments designed by Stefania Morland, Fashion Revolution, Gavin Rajah , David Tlale ,Craig Port and have the opportunity to walk the runway at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Cape Town 2017.
